The SOF is a real institution which is not recognised at its right level: how many annual competitions can boast to have the top international teams, close to 1000 athletes from 60 nationalities. Such an international representation is unique in French sport. The SOF fame has crossed many borders and is an example of the Olympic sailing globalisation. This phenomenon will increase in the future thanks to the inclusion of the SOF in the newly created ISAF Sailing World Cup, along the top international sailing events. Increased visual impact, interest for Olympic sailing and international media coverage are expected from this novelty.
